Channel category selection

Choose the channel category to discuss with the supplier.

Identify the buyer drawing that prompted the request and ask the project reviewer to describe the intended purchasing boundary. Request a proposed item description under that category, and keep any alternative channel proposal separate so the buyer can review its own associated documents before considering a change to the item schedule.

Assembly item identification

List channel items separately from the connection parts discussed in the project.

Give each purchasing line a drawing reference and identify which buyer contact can answer further questions. Ask the supplier to return an itemized proposal against that schedule. Compare the proposed descriptions with the inquiry and request clarification when a commercial line cannot be matched to a requested item.

Project document questions

Ask the buyer project reviewer which section drawings, material descriptions and inspection documents it needs examined.

Send those requests with the channel item identities and keep the response attached to the corresponding purchasing lines. Return any unanswered project question to the supplier, and ask for another document response when the proposed channel identity changes during the commercial discussion.

Channel quotation comparison

Compare channel proposals using the same buyer schedule and document requests.

Ask which items belong to the proposed package and which require separate purchasing decisions. Keep changes to drawings visible beside the current commercial response. Before authorizing the proposed order, confirm quantities, order requirements and delivery arrangements, then preserve the reviewed item descriptions with the quotation considered by the buyer.
